[Edit 12/16/03: I really thought this course was going to be interesting. At least the syllabus was (and still is). Also the very very very first rant. Though it's a small bitchy little rant from an old woman fresh off eating her overeasy eggs with ketchup]
First Intrigue at College
This comes from my Legal Studies syllabus:
"PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION:
I am quite sincere when I say that the best education does not come in the classroom. And the best teachers are not the pompous fools that often stand in front of students. Rather the best educations in life come from
1) The military
2) Jail or prison
3) Bad health or poverty
4) A BAD marriage
5) Travel --- especially international travel
These truly are the best educators in life. But they can be terribly painful and terribly expensive and they can leave scars that last a life time. We are offering you a wonderful education in the classroom that is relatively easy and (comparatively) very cheap. You would be wise to take it --- but some people can and will learn only the hard way. The choice is yours."
[Begin mini-rant] 250 pages an easy read ? Naw. Not in hell ! Even though I've got only 3 classes, I feel like I'm carrying an overwhelming load already. Shit, better start reading because its due next week. Piece of crap. Times 195.
