What I Meant to Say About "Fuck Goals and Expectations"

(Link should be here, but I'm too lazy to look it up)

I did NOT mean to say that goals are total crap and should just be obliterated from your mindset. It was more a semi-rebellion post intended for the Cressinator not to get bogged down by people mindlessly placing these expectations on her.

I did mean to say that goals are useful in the short-term, but if you don't live up to em it's all good. . .

Least from where I stand, and I stand in a lot that says "I'm going to be able to do anything. Whatever." How did I get to standing in that lot ? Well, you have my whole blorg to look at and you decide. It lays and spreads me like a gigolo getting ready to eat his bread.

Standards: Compiling the 'Busting Standards' Posts

So here's my official position on standards: they are only needed when they prevent someone or something from getting hurt, which then becomes a rule because rules are about making things fair. Standards can be rules, but rules cannot be standards. [note: But then rules are to be looked down upon to because they only have in mind a certain group of people when they are concocted]

One reason I trash standards and define rules and standards is because I see people getting crushed like Zion I's microphones by trying to live up to standards.

I started off by trashing the notions of "interesting", then explored what made "scientific facts", then dissed the "experts" who concocted some of the "scientific facts" for not accomplishing anything innovative, explored the "specificity" required in becoming an expert and knowing the scientific facts, and now I'm here rounding it all up. It's all to the History of Randomness class. If you are ever going to UC-Santa Cruz make sure to take this class in the Spring, listed as HisCon80Q or Science As Cultural Practice. The class is a daily journey into the mind !

Standards and Rules: Act Your Age

Hopefully this can clarify earlier 'random' posts about standards, rules, etc. from July and June.

The phrase "act your age" is synonymous with "be more responsible." Being responsible entails that you don't or have the potential to hurt anyone or anything, be independent, and take the blame if you screw up.

If 'being responsible' is all there is to "acting my age", why is there a certain personality associated with being old ? Why can't an old dude like skateboarding ? There's a personality associated with being old because people in large societies like to follow each other. It's because this type of personality has become a standard.

This "acting old" is a standard. Standards need not be met because they are about being better than someone. They aren't needed to achieve the end to a means. They aren't needed to achieve a result even though a helluva lot of people highly suggest the standard. For example, if you just want to be happy, you can do whatever the hell you want rather than buying into the diatribe that you need to be some kind of money-hungry CEO shark with 3 Bentleys. If the standards need to be followed, then they are called rules.

People act as if the personality for 'being old' is a rule.

Sitting slapped up in the only room in my house with an air conditioner, I flipped my attention to this ABC special about Sports Legends, which I used to watch quite a lot as a chunky-faced wannabe-balling 13-year old, back and forth with that Snake game. The show finally hit the junction about their only female host, which erected my stance and entranced my eyes. OK not really, I just paid extra attention. Ya know I'm eyeing only 1 girl like that, haha ! (Pssst, here's a pic anyway)

Yeah, so she was hot, but I never realized how open-minded that show was. A black, female, host during the time of Ronald "women-have-no-rights-at-all" Raygun. As a 7th-grader watching this, I thought that the show was a bit quirky, as the interviewer and interviewee did some activity during the interview, and wondering what the hell all that bullshit and beating around was about. I understand now that it was to bring the interviewee's guard down. This particular blog might mean something someday when I connect concepts at SC !
