This One's for the Funniest George in America

I didn't really get into George Carlin until I got the book Napalm and Silly Putty one Christmas.

Couldn't put it down, couldn't stop laughing.

He definitely knew how to deliver his language, whether it was on paper or whether he was doing one of his routines. I wondered if my friend Daniel straight ripped off part of his jokes and blunt language from him. George was such a fluid comedian that I was actually concerned about whether or not he could speak so fluidly in real life.

What separated him and other comedians was that he also kinda knew what was going on in the world. He could analyze almost anything in his routines, and he didn't always have to be funny.

Anyhow, he's probably making God piss his pants.

The ultimate de-constructor of consumerism.

Master Language Contortionist.

Expert Historian

BS-Proof George Carlin.

Thanks

I am thankful for my mom, dad, sister, and the motherfuckers I call friends.

I am also thankful for college, my middle-class privilege, and whatever else that holds me up.

Happy mofuckin' thanksgiving biotch.

Tribute to College Dummies

So I'm sitting here doing this essay in my dorm room. And then all of a sudden there's this Tazmanian Devil of a tornado of a whirlwind of a rampage of noise that penetrates the big strong steel door that seperates me from the dummies. I just remembered.

Daniel and I discuss all the time, "our tax dollars are going to them. This [meaning high quality college education] shit is heavily subsidized."

Every time he says something like that, I think of all the morons past and present that I have met or at least seen here in college. The moron Abercrombie and Fitch couple banging the shit out of each other for everyone to hear next door and to see thru the window. The guys who think they're bad-ass on a basketball court taking everything so seriously as if they'll make our Division III team and somehow still be competent in life. The dining hall bad ass with muscles hanging out with all these stupid hoes who would get on some meat like it was drugs. The boorish dummie who would not shut up in Music of India. "Jamie" who got in my way at the Zion I, Ozomatli free concert. The doowoppy, yuppie surfer with the perfect hair who's in college "just for the ride." Won't even start on the drinkers and stoners.

Stop having fun, you idiots. You think Tanya Harding from her trailer park in Fiddlebob, Oklahoma is having fun after she had her fun ? NO !

Our tax dollars our going to them. . .down the "shitter."

Summer Days of 2003

The summer of 2003 is coming to a close. And that means school is coming back for me (assuming that the $5000 glitch mends itself before 09/16 and/or I get to keep my classes). No more of this blog everyday stuff. I'll blog as often as I exercise, which is 2-3 times a week because I liked wondering out loud for the first time about random stuff.

As for the summer itself, I'd wouldn't have had a great time without my fam, Shar, Chelle, Bel, Keith, Joe, the beach trips adding Jonn and Trina, driving adding Gladys that one time, basketball with Mike and Harlan, trips to anywhere with Cheryl and her friends, the whole Immac crew's Islands outing adding Sue, Mo, and Maria.

But of course my summer would have been a complete rip and shit without Cressa. Even though this summer wasn't as exciting as the Summer of 2002, I still had a great time. It was the summer of neutralness and chillin'. No "nndawddy's" got in our way. Friends to Jerry Springer, and Finding Nemo to Dickie Roberts, we saw it all. Mraz to Nas, we heard it all. Thai to In-n-Out, we ate it all. Steenky to good, we smelled it all. From politics to whatever else, we argued it all. And she freekin' won most of the time. Oh well, I still downed someone's ass in the waterfest pool.

This Is for the Unrecognized

I could feel it from those old dustbags.

Pssshh. . .community. . .fuck that. . .I thought. . .community of superachievers.

They made me think that a whole month could change a person's life. . .they stamped onto me that the symbol of charity is all good and fine.

They made me think that this was a community.

Even worse, they tricked my parents into coughing up $16,000+. : (

And all I got out of it was some writing skill, and a big fat frown.

Least now the university blinds superachievers' achievements and I don't have to be intimidated by anyone as much.

I hated that shit in high school. Sure, I'm proud to say that a future NFLer Matt Ware offered me advice and I went to school with Omar Wilkes', but I didn't need to know how they played every second of the day. I get enough of that shit from TV, telling me that I'm insufficient and whatnot because I'm not famous and/or rich. Announcing people's achievements just put people on a pedestal that wasn't necessary at all, especially in a Catholic for-the-COMMUNITY school. It gave them an aura that was god-like and untouchable in what is/was supposed to be an all-integrating school. I hated when those priests asked how some star athlete's dog was, but couldn't spare a second to learn my name. Especially that Beavis lookalike priest. I felt like I was being judged every second of every day there. Where was the inviting community ?

I understand that none of it was intentional and that the big guys on campus are more-or-less 'quality guys', but you'd think in such a school full of brainies, there'd be more acceptance of people as they are/were rather than pinned as strictly athletes/choir nuts/drama people.

This blog goes out to you, suparraDly FIRER !

Why the Bathrooms at Riverside Are Dirty as Hell

Yeah, I'm not a Riverside student (and neither are a lot of them at 'big R'), but it's fun to make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me' because then 'us' ('u' and 'me' combined) could compete with J-Lo.

Yeah.

OK, whatever, moving on. . .

The bathrooms are dirty because students just don't give a crap (toilets say otherwise).

Respirators (thats all humans carrying out the process of respiration) get dirty by just touching the door.

I mean would you want to use a damp, dark, cement-floored public restroom at Griffith Park wearing a suit (or dress) just before a wedding ?

That's what it's like using a restroom at UC-Riverside.

Students will throw something away like paper towel and because the bathrooms are dirty, the students figure that it's dirty anyway, so then the used paper towels reach the floor, and the mess PILES. They'll spit, hack, and throw stuff anywhere they please because they know that they won't have to clean it up eventually. Trash also because especially harder with annoying, plastic, welting 'Push' trashcans from 1973, which I wouldn't want to touch after having washed my hands CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL style. As a result that paper towel ends up on the floor, and the pathogens spread. The janitors have probably lost hope of ever 'spic-and-spanning' the place (as if its an apartment) and settle for just throwing the trash and sweeping up the floor as a result of constant use.

As a result of this CONSTANT is the FOUL smell. Who would want to touch a rusty flusher with their bare hands in a horrible-smelling stahl with grafitti and toilet paper floating and flowing like 'P.Diddy's' career (maybe a Somalian kid if you promised him a crumb of your Krispy Kreme donut and a ounce of a sip of your Starbucks) ? Thus the mess and smell PILES up from the toilets. Reach with your foot to flush the excrement down the toilet !

Everything adds to the ATMOSPHERE and FEELING that the place is dirty, so what would putting YOUR trash in the trash can do, students reason.

Adding to this hold-your-nose atmosphere are the junior grafitti artistswho write on the stahls and walls. I've been thinking about the bathroom next to Buschelman's class back at Loyola, and the ones I always saw were like "Taggers suck" and "If you want a great time, call 310-386-4532 (that was random I swear), usually some number intended to be a girl's." Now in college it's been upgraded to such 'sophistry' as "End the occupation of California" and "If you are reading this, you should get down and start focusing". These taggers come to make a statement (and what better way than to write in a foul-smelling shithole), silent but deadly expressions (I mean the writing). One funny comment leads to another, and before you know it, the bathroom becomes the LA greyhound station --- PILE full of foul waste and writing on the wall.

So what does this all add up to ? A PILE of BS !

R.I.P. Father Jones.

Though I haven't been there much for 3 years, it's hard to imagine what my sister would be doing on any given Wednesday or Friday. He kept her straight with those long-winded practices. She doesn't have an obnoxious group of stupid loud friends.

I always wondered what Father did in his off-time. I wondered what he felt like living alone. I wonder what he felt like giving all his time to some Catholic school kids. He never greeted anyone with a hi. The man was a mystery.

But let it be no secret that I never saw any malice from him.

Good man, good man. You'll be missed.

This goes out to SUE DA POOH

So the trade deadline has passed and the Bulls didn't trade. . .

Cool. Because I think that dude has the potential to do such things as. . .cross up the Lakers. . .

Hopefully they can wait for the DRAFT (when they select players) and trade. . .

the OVERHYPED DUKIE (yuppie rich Southern school) Jay Williams, the good-but-not-good-enough Jalen Rose, and the good-but-not-good-enough-second banana-Donyell Marshall, and their 1st round draft pick

for. . .

and salary cap filler.

Then the lineup for 2003/2004 would be. . .

C - #2 Eddy Curry, the closest thing to Shaq at 6'11, 290 lbs with Shaq-like strength and mobility. He can already score points, but he just can't REBOUND (what Dennis Rodman did in the NBA besides kick cameramen in the nuts and dress up as a bride) or DEFEND the basket.

PF - #3 Tyson Chandler, a combination of the KAMA SUTRA athletic GARNETT who won the 2003 all-star MVP over MJ, TIM "Boring" DUNCAN, and hothead RASHEED WALLACE. Right now, he's having a monster 5 games, averaging about 17 POINTS, 12 REBOUNDS, and 4 blocks PER GAME. If you don't know basketball, think of a HUMMER racing at the speed of a VIPER. . .that's sort of what he's like.

SF - #32 Eddie Robinson, a superathlete handiman.

SG - #1 Tracy McGrady, the closest thing to MJ (Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls guard from 1984-93, 1995-98). 'Nuff said.

PG - #? Jamal Crawford, the supertight point guard with the cool headband who resembles PENNY HARDAWAY before he got injured. PENNY HARDAWAY was the dude in ORLANDO whom SHAQ played with. This guy can do some cool stuff with the ball, but he hasn't had the chance to show it because Jay takes up all his time.

6th - #21 Marcus Fizer, a 6'9, 262-lb TANK, who can bully all the small guys like crazy. He RUINED MJ's last game at the Bulls home stadium by scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter (18 points is something not easily done in the NBA) and leading the new BULLS to victory.

The problems with this scenario are that: 1) it hasn't happened yet; the salaries need to work out and all that ECONOMIC mumbo jumbo 2) we'd have a hard time figuring out who'd get the #1. . .TRACY MCGRADY or JAMAL CRAWFORD ? 3) Orlando has to agree

Aye, Sue, Su-Way

Least you won't be pulled over for DWB. You'll probably be even paler the next time our paths cross with all the cheese you'll be stuffing down your piehole washed down by 5 bottles of Smirnoff (or something strong since it's also the brewer state) during those crazy cram sessions designed especially for potential engineers. Also because of the way the Bulls will abuse the Bucks and Clippers. Hey I hear Foster Farms is stationed there. Oh well, have fun. I'm at SC. Peace and Love. BJ.
